May 15, 2020 is the next 3rd Friday in Downtown Salisbury, and with stay-at-home orders still in effect – 3rd Friday is going virtual. May’s theme was scheduled to be wheels, with highlights on skateboards, bicycles, color wheels, pottery demos and the like – and now the event will do the same things – just online. Tune on to live updates on the 3rd Friday website and social media for live links, photo albums, artist highlights, shopping and more.

Everyone can participate in Virtual 3rd Friday by sending in either photos of your favorite ‘wheels’ or pictures of artwork you are currently making or have for sale. Were looking for awesome pictures of 3rd Friday fans, and local artisans showing off their wares. Messages from downtown businesses and restaurants will also be shared, plus there are two SBY Take-Out Bingo cards in circulation right now with incentive to carryout locally for a chance to win big!

For live music, the City of Salisbury’s ISO Lounge will feature local guitarist and vocalist Ryan Jackson, one of the founding members of the Permilla Project scheduled to play at this month’s event. The City of Salisbury ISO Lounge has been featuring living room concerts by local musicians complete with virtual tip jars on the City’s face book page at 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays in an effort to support local musicians, and inspire connection.

Multiple artists will be highlighted with demos, live streams, and links to online shopping. Rowdy Gal Mud Hud, soon to open a studio Downtown, will be sharing a pre-recorded pottery demo, and Amused Studios will be going live with pottery wheel demonstrations! Lurking Class Skate Shop will share one of their epic skate videos, and the National Folk Festival will also be sharing something special from their archives just for 3rd Friday.

UPDATE: Following Governor Hogan's updated announcement on 3/16/2020 - 3rd Friday 3/20/2020 is CANCELLED. Please stay safe during this time.

March, 2020 is the next 3rd Friday in Downtown Salisbury! It’s the last 3rd Friday hosted as an indoors only event – before the outdoor season kicks off in April! That means there won’t be artists and crafters hosted outside on the street, but there’s still tons to do and see in the shops, restaurants and galleries in Downtown Salisbury.

In response to COVID-19, Governor Hogan has issued a state of emergency, and has banned all large gatherings of 250 people or more, as of the date of this press release. Since 3rd Friday indoor events do not include one large gathering of 250 people or more, but is spread out at locations across Downtown Salisbury, the event will continue as planned. The City of Salisbury Emergency Operations Center is at a Level 2 Watch activation and is monitoring the situation. Any changes and updated will be posted online and on social media, please use caution during this time.

Salisbury Art Space (SAS) will host the awards reception for the all new exhibition titled Renewal. Renewal features the artwork of all media of members and members of the local community, that explores the concept of renewal as we anxiously await nature to reawaken around us. Additionally, the Robinson Gallery also includes a feature on the UMES Art Department Faculty. The show will be judged by award winning watercolorist Nancy Mysak, with a highlight exhibition of her work in the Foyer Gallery. Salisbury Art Space is located on the lowest level of the Salisbury University Building, off the Plaza and will be open from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on 3rd Friday.

Salisbury University Art Galleries | Downtown will show the exhibition titled Habitat. Artists Amber Eve Anderson, Raghvi Bhatia, Garret Kane, Matt Mottel, and Carlie Trosclair share works that explore the human habitat. From a 16’ geodesic dome, to rubber molds of historic building facades, to color palettes gathered from old family photos, the artwork in this show generates questions about or relationship to nature and the built environment; and how custom, memory and myth shape how we think about home. SUAG’s kids “club house” will also be open for the young and young art heart complete with craft supplies and a giant wall that asks you to share: what’s your habitat? Salisbury University Art Galleries | Downtown Campus will be open from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and is located in the Salisbury University building, off the Plaza.

The downtown bars and restaurants are ready with live music for 3rd Friday! Brew River will have Maryland’s only Guns-N-Roses Tribute band, Ounce of Pain from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. playing all of GNR's greatest hits along with other classic rock songs from the 70s and 80s and even some modern rock.
