June 19, 2020 marked a 3rd Friday in Downtown Salisbury and with outdoor events still prohibited – 3rd Friday went virtual - posting artist highlights, messages from local organizations and community members on its Facebook Event from 5 to 8 p.m. A new post went up every five minutes, and can still be perused in the discussion section.

ICYMI - In Case You Missed It! Here's a few highlights from Friday's event.

PAW PRINTS:

June’s theme was scheduled to be "Paw Prints" - a month to honor our pet friends big and small. Community Members sent in pictures of their favorite furry friends, some with funny captions, and some with great stories!

This little cuties name is Chloe, and this a picture of her from 2 years ago, at 3rd Friday, posing with Downtown Salisbury's Officer "Bull Hudson" right after she won "Best Dressed" in the Pet Pageant hosted by Fetch Dog Company! How cute :) Thanks for sharing Chloe's mom.

PUBLIC ART WALKING TOUR:

A Public Art Walking Tour was debuted during the event, compiled by the Salisbury Arts & Entertainment District. Not all works listed were commissioned by the A&E District, but with COVID-19 pushing people towards self-directed outdoor adventures, it seemed like a perfect time to compile a comprehensive list of the public art pieces on display in Salisbury's Arts District. Users can download an 11x17 PDF, or request a printed copy in the mail. The version is just a first version - stay tuned for a mobile friendly digitial version. Please note, this map is already obsolete - as the District saw the unveiling of a new Black Lives Matter sidewalk mural, at the ceremonial renaming of Broad Street to Black Lives Matter Blvd by the City of Salisbury, the very day it was released. Stay tuned for V2. To request a printed copy to be mailed please email 3rdFridaySBY@gmail.com

LIVE MUSIC WITH AMP STUDIOS:

The kids at AMP Studios: Academy of Music Performance were so bummed to not be able to perform as scheduled at June's 3rd Friday event. Instead the group submitted a video taken last summer at the Freeman Stage. AMP Studio is a school of rock designed for kids from age ten to eighteen who want to join a band. These kids are phenomenal - to check out the video -click here.

Participants are encouraged to sign-up on the Beanstack App through our webpage www.wicomicolibraries.org. There are challenges for children, teens and adults. ARTIST HIGHLIGHTS:

Last but most certainly not least, here are a few artist highlights from Friday's event.

We are Limitless Studios: This print is based off an original artwork by We Are Limitless Studio's own Brandon Bell. He couldn't let go of it, as it still hangs in our house today, so we decided to turn it into a print! The teachings of Buddha have had a huge effect on both of us in our lives and this piece pays tribute to him. These framed prints ARE for sale! http://www.wearelimitlessstudios.com/buddha-splatter-frame Thank you greatly, Brandon & Des

Phyllis Towers – Create Peace and Love

https://createpeaceandlove.com Our world needs peace and love, and it must begin with us. Creating jewelry is part of my contribution. I love the creation process, the designing process, and the building process. So you may be assured that every one-of-a kind piece is imbued with love. My meditation practice fills me with peace, and that peace energy flows into my jewelry. Bringing the creativity together with the love and the peace inspired the name "Create Peace and Love Jewelry". I hope you enjoy wearing my creations as much I enjoy making them. And yes, I am an old hippie.
