December 20, 2019 is the next 3rd Friday in Downtown Salisbury! This month's event is hosted indoors only - so that means no artists and crafters outside on the street - but there is still tons to do and see inside! So don your ugliest sweater for a night of shopping, gallery shows, and more.


Salisbury Art Space is hosting its annual Holiday Arts & Crafts Bazaar at Salisbury Art Space now through December 21st. Don't miss the opportunity to find unique gifts, holiday wreaths and decorations created by talented local artists and artisans at affordable prices. You’ll be able to find jewelry, knits, ceramics, collectibles, fine art, sculpture and more, all from local artists. Plus, the Salisbury Art Space Gift Shop is always stocked with treasures perfect for the gift giving season. Salisbury Art Space is located on the lower level of the Salisbury University Building.


The shops are ready to dazzle 3rd Friday goers with great sales right in time for the holidays! Barefoot Baby Boutique is having a Holiday Pajama Party – come dressed in your holiday pajamas on 3rd Friday and receive fifty percent off a new pair of Christmas jammies – Mom, Dad, and the kids – the more the merrier. Angello’s Scoops and Unique Gifts is always a great place for great gift ideas, and now shoppers can leave with sweet treats too! Simply Salisbury has deals on Salisbury branded merchandise, and Season’s Best Antiques is a go -to for one of a kind treasures from times past.

The Downtown Salisbury Visitor Center will again host a Gingerbread House Decorating event where kids can decorate their very own Gingerbread House at no charge. The annual holiday tradition fills up fast, so be sure to pre-register here, only the first fifty kids to sign up online can be accommodated. Everyone always has a great time decorating their very own pre-fabricated gingerbread house with all sorts of treats and goodies.


The downtown bars and restaurants are ready with live music for 3rd Friday! Roadie Joe’s Bar and Grill will live music by Smooth and Remy from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. plus a Tito’s Vodka Ugly Sweater Party with rock band The Queens Bishop from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Brew River will have one of Delmarva’s favorite party band’s On the Edge from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.. Market Street Inn will have live music by Wes Davis from 7:00-10:00 p.m. with DJ Outlaw late night.

November 15, 2019 is the next 3rd Friday in Downtown Salisbury. This month’s theme is Holiday Lights, complete with the Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony. It is also the last 3rd Friday held outdoors until Spring, so it’s time to stock up on locally made arts and crafts from 3rd Friday’s outdoor vendors for the gift-giving season.


The 2019 Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. in front of the City of Salisbury Parking Garage located at the intersection of Circle Avenue and Division Street, on the newly constructed food truck parking pad right across from First Shore Federal and the Wicomico Public Library.


The ceremony includes performances from choirs, theater groups and dance troupes including the Ocean Bay Chorus, Salisbury University’s Squawkappella, the Theater Academy of Delmarva, Pinehurst Elementary Choir, Feet of Fire Dance Academy, and AMP School of Rock.


Santa arrives in time to light the tree at 6:30 p.m. After the tree is lit, everyone is invited to follow Santa over to First Shore Federal’s Winter Wonderland Lobby for cookies, candy and photo ops with Santa and Mrs. Claus! In anticipation of the Hanukkah and Kwanzaa seasons, a menorah and a kinara will be displayed with the tree, fully lit, until Hanukkah and Kwanzaa begin on December 22nd and December 26th respectively, when the daily lightings begin.


On the Plaza, artists and crafters will line the street with local handmade items for sale. It’s the last outdoor 3rd Friday of the season, so it’s the perfect time to stock up on locally made treasures for the holiday gift giving season. The Bay Brass Ensemble will perform holiday tunes on the plaza, and the Salisbury Jaycees will be serving festive libations. Main Street Kids, Downtown Salisbury most recently announced new business, will have a table set up on the Plaza with information and holiday crafts for kids.


For shoppers, St. Peters Episcopal Church will hold their annual Fall Bazaar in Parish Hall Friday 5 – 8 p.m. and Saturday 8 – 1 p.m., so stop by for lots of gift ideas, pies, baked goods, gift baskets, attic treasures, holiday decor and fun for activities for the kids, plus, oyster sandwiches, homemade chicken salad, chili, hot dogs, and breakfast sandwiches – all indoors and out of the cold!

In the Downtown Salisbury University Building, stop by Salisbury University’s Pop-Up Center for Entrepreneurship where SU business plan makers will be showcasing their businesses and products, like Joost Waffle, Hayas Dress, Clutch, and Cupcakes by Frosted, located across from Salisbury University Art Galleries – Downtown Campus. Downstairs, Salisbury Art Space will again show the 2019 Biannual Members Exhibition, showcasing the artwork of SAS members, and homemade items in the gift shop.

The Downtown Trolley will begin its free service at 5:45 at SU Academic Commons to bring students to Downtown Salisbury for 3rd Friday.

October 18, 2019 is the next 3rd Friday in Downtown Salisbury. 3rd Friday will be held outdoors, with artists, crafters and live music on the Plaza, plus special activities in Lot 15 and on N. Division Street. This month’s theme is Super Heroes, so get ready to dress up like your favorite superheroes and villains. Join the costume contest for a chance to win great prizes, score free comic books, or paint a pumpkin in Lot 15 – there is always something for everyone at 3rd Friday.


CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: THE INTERSECTION OF MAIN ST AND DIVISION ST WILL REMAIN CLOSED THIS FRIDAY. BUT HAVE NO FEAR - 3RD FRIDAY PREVAILS!

Cosplayers can enter the 3rd Friday Costume Contest on N. Division Street, for a chance to win huge prizes. Winners will take home giant prize packs filled with collectibles, toys, comic books sponsored by Ocean City Comic Con. The contest is open to anyone, and will be broken down into two categories, kids 12 and under and adults 13 and up, with special guest host James Dufendach of PLB Comics.


Come decked out as your favorite character, or an original creation. Registration is from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Government Office Building Steps and the contest itself starts promptly at 6:15 p.m. on the Government Office Building steps as well. So come out, look good, and win big!

Down in Lot 15, near The Acorn Market there will be more special activities like pumpkin painting, pumpkin chuck, a food truck and free comics! Meta Yoga will be hosting a free yoga workshop from 5:30 – 6:30pm in the Parker Garden area, just bring your own mat. Son Rise Church will host bounce houses, and the Hawaiian food truck will be there serving snacks. At 5:30pm – check out a special Halloween performance by Feet of Fire Dance Academy – out in full force for the annual Halloween tradition.


On the Plaza, there will be live music on the main stage by Matthew Bennett Davey and The Baba Roots, a Delmarva band that plays a mix of rock, reggae, funk, blues, alternative, covers and original music. Check out Barefoot Baby Boutique’s Super Mom Art Contest –where kids can drop off handmade masterpieces depicting their mom as a super hero, for a chance to win her a special gift. The Salisbury Jaycees will be pouring beer and wine and St. Peter’s Episcopal Church will have family-friendly prices on burgers and dogs fresh off the grill in the Courtyard.



Salisbury Art Space will present the 2019 Biannual Members Exhibition, showcasing the artwork of SAS members. There will also be special activities for children - mask making and ghost stories with Beth Ohlsson – taking place between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. In the gift shop, check out the monthly highlighted ceramic artist with the Clay Guild of Delmarva plus other fabulous works priced to sell by Salisbury Art Space members.



Salisbury University Art Galleries | Downtown Campus will again show two exhibitions - On Water and Close Waters. On Water brings together photographic explorations of water and its role in our perception of and interactions with the world. Close Waters includes artwork from 12 regional and local emerging artists that is connected to this fundamental substance.


Be sure to also check out - “What if you Fly” – Salisbury University’s brand mural – #SalisburyWings by local artist Sarah Perdue. The project was inspired by poet, Erin Hanson, and street artist, Kelsey Montague and was funded by Salisbury University Art Galleries.
