3rd Friday 2021 Themes Announced!

3rd Friday is pleased to announce its theme line-up for the 2021 outdoor season. Downtown Salisbury’s monthly art and entertainment street festival uses themes to keep things exciting during the outdoor season April through November. Some themes are fan favorites and occur every year while other themes come and go.

“Monthly themes are a jumping off point for special activities and for local businesses and vendors to get creative, and keep things fresh” says 3rd Friday producer Jamie Heater. No matter what theme, every 3rd Friday will be tons of fun this season.

3rd Friday kicks off the 2021 outdoor season on April 16th with ‘Spring Things’ –highlighting everything from baby animals and spring flowers, to sustainability projects and local environmental groups. May 21st will have a ‘Wheels’ theme- coinciding with National Bike Month and an annual Salisbury Skate Park fundraiser. June 18th 3rd Friday will be fan favorite ‘Paw Prints’ also known as ‘Bring Your Dog to 3rd Friday Month’ with special activities for furry friends.

July will have an all knew theme ‘Photo Hunt’ with photography themed challenges, and scavenger hunts. August 20th theme will be ‘Water World’ to keep things cool and September 17th check out ‘Urban Artscapes’ for a night of special tours, building highlights and public art. Oct 15th theme is ‘Super Heroes’ with a comic con feel, free comics, highlights on local heroes, and a costume contest for kids and adults. The outdoor season will wrap up on November 19th with a ‘Holiday Lights’ theme that will include the annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony, as well as, a last chance to shop from the 3rd Friday vendors for everyone on your list.

New this year, 3rd Friday will be accepting registrations from local vendors selling “cottage food items”, which are non-potentially hazardous food items sold in Maryland directly to a consumer from a residence, at a farmers market, at a public event, by personal delivery, or by mail delivery; or directly to a retail food store.​

Cottage food businesses can produce and package cottage food items in residential kitchens with sales not exceeding $25,000 per year, and can include items like breads, pastries, jams, honey, hard candy, chocolate confections, repackaged commercial items like spices, teas, and granolas, as well as, whole roasted coffee beans.

3rd Friday’s 2021 event footprint will take place on Main Street from the Plaza to Court Street, and along N. Division Street in front of the Government Office Building. Road closures and parking closures can be expected to affect these areas around 2 p.m. on event days. Any traffic changes, or changes to road closures will be updated online.

3rd Friday - March 19th, 2021

March 19, 2021 is the next 3rd Friday in Downtown Salisbury. This month's marks the last month to be hosted indoors only - so that means no vendors outside on the street until April - but there’s still tons to do and see. So, bundle up, grab some friends, and head out for a night on the town.

Salisbury Art Space will be open on 3rd Friday until 7 p.m., showcasing its exhibition “Good Riddance 2020!” – filled by area artists sharing what they’ve made over the infamous 2020 year. Exhibition winners were selected by judges, local artists and educators Sarah Perdue and Heather Riser, whose work is on display in the Foyer gallery.

Life in Watercolor: The Works of Katherine Wood Day is also on display at Salisbury Art Space, with all works for sale as a fundraiser to Salisbury Art Space and Salisbury A&E District. Katherine Wood Day, also known as K. Wood (1953 – 2011) took up watercolor after a career as a photography archivist, and rarely allowed her work to be shown during her lifetime. Her husband, Michael H. Day, hopes the works will bring joy to viewers, and help raise funds for the arts in Downtown Salisbury. Salisbury Art Space is located on the lower level of the Salisbury University Building, on the plaza, and will be open until 7 p.m.

February 19, 2021 is the next 3rd Friday in Downtown Salisbury. So, bundle up, grab some friends, and head out for a night on the town.

Downtown Salisbury is celebrating the month of “FeBREWary” with a MD Craft Beer Scavenger Hunt, now with ten participating locations. This annual tradition gives participants the month of February to collect five signatures on a gamecard for enjoying MD Craft beer, with the chance of winning great prizes. New locations on the map this year include Mogan’s Oyster House, Maya Bella’s Pizzeria, and the Looking Glass. Click here to download a game piece, or pick one up in participating locations.
