May 21, 2021 is the next 3rd Friday in Downtown Salisbury. 3rd Friday is held outdoors, with artists and crafters filling the streets, live music, new cottage food vendors and special events all across Downtown. This month’s theme is Wheels – so get ready for highlights like a 3rd Friday car show, pottery wheel demos, skateboards, bike to work week incentives and more.
3rd Friday is celebrating Wheels this year with its first ever 3rd Friday Car Show on Main Street, complete with 35 cars of a variety of styles, from classic cars and nostalgic throw backs to modern cars with custom modification.
3rd Friday attendees can vote on their favorites, with the winners announced at 7:30 p.m. with cash prizes and a trophy for first place.
For more wheels, check out Lurking Class Skate Shop for ramp access and all things skateboards – and The MudHud: Clay Art Studio for pottery wheel demos, a covid-19 themed art show, and 30% off paint-your-own pottery.
On North Division Street, check out live music with AMP Studios: Academy of Music Performance bands on Government Office Building Steps, plus at 5:30 p.m. 3rd Friday is pleased to welcome home Mayor Jacob Day, with a few special remarks. Everyone is invited to visit the City of Salisbury’s Welcome Home tent on Division Street where Jake will be waiting to greet everyone. Attendees can also write cards and notes, and create chalk messages to welcome him back home after his deployment to Africa.
After 3rd Friday, head on over to the Amphitheater for the City of Salisbury’s Movies on the River, this month featuring Onward with an 8:30 p.m. showtime!
Salisbury Art Space is exhibiting work from the Lower Shore Addiction Awareness Visual Arts Competition sponsored by the United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore. The art competition asked students to explore the theme of addiction awareness and recovery and was open to middle and high school students in the surrounding four counties. Stop by Salisbury Art Space from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. to check out all of the submissions and support the critical conversations that their art encourages in keeping opioid addiction awareness, and hope for recovery, integrated in our community and family conversations. Salisbury Art Space will also be hosting a Gently Used Book Sale Fundraiser, with hundreds of books all priced between $1 and $5, with a variety of topics ranging from artist bios, art instruction and photography to new age, meditation, yoga, gardening and more.
If you’re headed out this 3rd Friday, be sure to support some of the amazing local shops and restaurants in Downtown Salisbury.
