3rd Friday Nov 15th - HOLIDAY LIGHTS!

November 15, 2019 is the next 3rd Friday in Downtown Salisbury. This month’s theme is Holiday Lights, complete with the Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony. It is also the last 3rd Friday held outdoors until Spring, so it’s time to stock up on locally made arts and crafts from 3rd Friday’s outdoor vendors for the gift-giving season.

The 2019 Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. in front of the City of Salisbury Parking Garage located at the intersection of Circle Avenue and Division Street, on the newly constructed food truck parking pad right across from First Shore Federal and the Wicomico Public Library.

The ceremony includes performances from choirs, theater groups and dance troupes including the Ocean Bay Chorus, Salisbury University’s Squawkappella, the Theater Academy of Delmarva, Pinehurst Elementary Choir, Feet of Fire Dance Academy, and AMP School of Rock.

Santa arrives in time to light the tree at 6:30 p.m. After the tree is lit, everyone is invited to follow Santa over to First Shore Federal’s Winter Wonderland Lobby for cookies, candy and photo ops with Santa and Mrs. Claus! In anticipation of the Hanukkah and Kwanzaa seasons, a menorah and a kinara will be displayed with the tree, fully lit, until Hanukkah and Kwanzaa begin on December 22nd and December 26th respectively, when the daily lightings begin.

On the Plaza, artists and crafters will line the street with local handmade items for sale. It’s the last outdoor 3rd Friday of the season, so it’s the perfect time to stock up on locally made treasures for the holiday gift giving season. The Bay Brass Ensemble will perform holiday tunes on the plaza, and the Salisbury Jaycees will be serving festive libations. Main Street Kids, Downtown Salisbury most recently announced new business, will have a table set up on the Plaza with information and holiday crafts for kids.

For shoppers, St. Peters Episcopal Church will hold their annual Fall Bazaar in Parish Hall Friday 5 – 8 p.m. and Saturday 8 – 1 p.m., so stop by for lots of gift ideas, pies, baked goods, gift baskets, attic treasures, holiday decor and fun for activities for the kids, plus, oyster sandwiches, homemade chicken salad, chili, hot dogs, and breakfast sandwiches – all indoors and out of the cold!

Check out Barefoot Baby Boutique’s Prelude to Christmas event, to discover wooden & retro toys, bamboo Christmas Pajamas up to size 6 and festive holiday dresses, with 10% off your entire purchase, and free candy canes! Download the UValues app for coupons to Simply Salisbury, with Salisbury themed gift ideas for every member of the family. Angello’s Scoops will offer free holiday face painting and will debut a new peppermint sundae.

In the Downtown Salisbury University Building, stop by Salisbury University’s Pop-Up Center for Entrepreneurship where SU business plan makers will be showcasing their businesses and products, like Joost Waffle, Hayas Dress, Clutch, and Cupcakes by Frosted, located across from Salisbury University Art Galleries – Downtown Campus. Downstairs, Salisbury Art Space will again show the 2019 Biannual Members Exhibition, showcasing the artwork of SAS members, and homemade items in the gift shop.

The downtown bars and restaurants are ready with live music for 3rd Friday. Roadie Joe’s Bar and Grill will have live music for happy hour with Smooth and Remy from 6– 9 p.m. Market Street Inn will have acoustic duo The Gifted from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and DJ Danny P late night. Mojo’s will have DJ Rusty Griswald spinning all your favorites, and Brew River is having a Hip Hop Party late night with DJ Tavonne & Str8 Up. The Downtown Trolley will begin its free service at 5:45 at SU Academic Commons to bring students to Downtown Salisbury for 3rd Friday.
